When the dawn of May 28, 2020 arose, I didn’t care if I ever stepped foot in a classroom.

Just as a reminder of the times, COVID-19 sent all of us into a lockdown. Teachers taught from home. My parents and students had a Google Voice number to text specifically for school during those hours.

Many teachers also had their own children to teach. I often had to make sure my son, Hayes, was online for his classes. Sometimes they were at the same time as my own. In addition, he had occupational therapy exercises to complete.

My daughter, Corrie, had a package from her preschool to complete, and I relied on my sister-in-law during this time because it was difficult to teach my four classes, my son, and try to add-in preschool work.

Schools responded in 48 hours or less to the crisis by sending…
