Welcome

Welcome to Corrie’s Season! The purpose of this blog is to share about gardens, gardening, writing, memories, poems and stories connected with the loss of my daughter, Corrie.  She met her sunset unexpectedly of complications due to an undetected tumor on May 27, 2020. My daughter was a force of nature, and was ready to change the world by her beautifully complex personality and leadership.

Blog History

Since this blog’s beginning in 2012 and until June 2020, this blog was called A Word or More with a focus on authors and writing. From my earliest creative publication in 2011, I wrote under the pen names: Rebecca T. Dickinson, or R.T. Dickinson. I originally chose these names in honor of my grandfather. But, my pen names and reasons for writing have transformed to honor Corrie.

About the Farm and Me

As of September 2022, my pen name has changed to R.A. Bridges, but all work written prior to September 2022 is still under the copyright R.T. Dickinson.

I live on a former Christmas tree farm with a house more than 110-years-old that we’re slowly renovating after a tornado devastated the land around it in February 2020. I work as a middle school educator, and I am LEGO Education Ambassador. (Yes, it is a real thing.) Currently, I am also working on my EdD. in Educational Practice and Innovation in STEM through the beloved University of South Carolina.

I am a very active gardener with more and more hobbies connected with this healthy addiction. I am also an affiliate with Gro-Rite Gardens, an amazing raised bed garden bed you can build in 10 minutes or less. Check out my social media Link Tree sites at the top.

My husband, John, battled and defeated stage 3 colon cancer just one year after our daughter’s death in 2021.  We live on, with our daughter’s memory, as we raise our son, her older brother.

I am an author of twenty publications after my career as a journalist and in freelance. (Please see my Published Works’ page.)

I worked as a journalist and photographer from 2008 to 2010. I worked part-time as a freelance writer from 2010 to 2014.

  2. I just want to say that you’ve got a wonderful blog =) You’re pretty much living the life I want to live someday — editing, writing, reading. I hope your book does incredibly well and I can’t wait to read it someday!

    1. Thank you so much for all of your support, Craig! I have always enjoyed your stories whenever you send them, as well as when you tell what inspired you to write them.

    1. I appreciate you for coming to visit my page. In the history of literature, Dickinson, Dickens and Dickson weave a common literary line. When I was younger, I thought about dropping my last name completely so I wouldn’t be compared to Emily Dickinson, but an editor convinced to keep it and add my middle initial.

  4. Hi Rebecca,
May I send you a copy of my book for a possible book review? If so would you prefer the kindle edition, the nook or a paperback? You will be my first reviewer…. 🙂
    Thanks, Craig

    1. Yes, Craig, I am sorry. Illness has kept me out of the loop. You’ll hear from me today or tomorrow. Thanks – Becca

    1. Hi Ronnie, I sent an email to your email that I have. I don’t know if you’re using the same one. I apologize for a late response.

      Becca
