Always Something There to Remind Me

Specific songs stir the soul to a memory.

The Valentine’s Day floral arrangement I did at Corrie’s and her grandparents’ graves yesterday.

The 1980’s song Always Something There to Remind Me gives Hayes, my son, and me the pure memory of Corrie. It combines the joy of glitter, big hair and loss.

From the very beginning with the group, Naked Eyes, sing:

“I walk along the city streets you used to walk along with me
And every step I take reminds me of just how we used to be …”

the song says every feeling or thought we have about Corrie.

John, my husband, surprised me when he bought a giant My Little Pony about one week ago specifically for the work I do at Corrie’s grave.

The song has been a part of our Corrie soundtrack for a while. Hayes actually first picked up on it.

There happen to be a lot of eighties’ throwbacks because, to me, so much of Corrie’s personality was the best of that decade.

“Well, how can I forget you girl?
When there is always something there to remind me
Always something there to remind me”

But, the words from this song give both the essence of Corrie and how we feel.

I changed some items out for her Valentine’s theme, but kept the gold mesh.

The song played through my mind as I decorated her grave for Valentine’s Day. I will likely go back and add more or take down.

This floral arrangement was done by someone else, but I added the purple and sunflowers.
